Johannesburg – SA Roadlink has refuted claims by the KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Bheki Cele, that the voluntary Certificate of Roadworthiness (CRW) testing exercise it has embarked on was “nothing extraordinary” and formed part of the company’s normal operational requirements.Responding to the allegation that “most of the buses taken for voluntary testing were suspended and by law were due for a complete roadworthy certification,” Herman Steyn, General Manager: Operations and spokesperson for SA Roadlink, reiterated that the company had sent nearly 30 vehicles for CRW testing in preparation for the peak festive period.

Fifteen SA Airways crew members were arrested in Heathrow in London on Monday for possession of illegal goods, the airways said. Spokeswoman Robyn Chalmers said three cockpit and 12 cabin crew of flight SA234 from Johannesburg to London were detained by authorities after “contraband” was found in the crew bus at the airport.“This comes after last month’s incident where SAA crew members were arrested in London following the discovery of illegal contraband on the crew bus,” Chalmers said.
